The recorder is a great first instrument – inexpensive and easy to make a sound with, they provide a great way to learn to read music and a good basis for moving onto another woodwind instrument such as flute, clarinet or sax.
There’s need to bring a recorder as we will be providing Nuvo Recorder+ instruments for the session. Their clever design makes them easier to play than a regular recorder, and they look great too!

We will be rolling out group instrumental lessons on woodwind and brass instruments in Kirkcaldy throughout 2020 alongside our range of general music classes. We will be using Nuvo Instruments for our group classes, which provide a fun, accessible and affordable way to learn a wind instrument.
The brand new Recorder+ will be the first of these, followed by the DooD (a great starter for reed instruments such as clarinet or saxophone) and the TooT (brilliant for developing the skills needed to move onto a flute). Guided by our expert tutors, children taking part in our recorder classes will learn the basics of playing though fun tunes and games. We will explore musical creativity through tunes and games, helping them to develop their sense of pitch, rhythm and beat.
